INFO (WIP)

Known as The Dragon of Houtu and former leader of Fireteam Emblem. Part of the first generation Archon-1 supersoldiers, and its most talented member. Destined for greatness since youth, Jingyi's mentors convinced her of this to make her believe she is meant to be humanity's hero. Well-intentioned this act may have been to help the young Jingyi cope with a harsh life, Jingyi grew arrogant and convinced of her greatness because of it. But her strength made her the target of a cosmic entity, who possessed her mind and made her go on a rampage, and murdering the Invictor team of superheroes along with her fellow soldiers, until she was defeated and captured by Fireteam Avatar - her rivals, lead by her childhood friend Ayame Sasaki ([personal profile] zenoh).

Jingyi is imprisoned for her crime with her existence and heroic feats erased from records. She watched with envy and resentment as Ayame became humanity's hero for defeating the very entity that poisoned her mind, getting all the adoration she craved since her youth, believing that honor should have been hers. But what started her resentment for Ayame is that her friend not once replied to her letters, making Jingyi feel like she's been abandoned and forgotten by her only friend. She is moved to the Chinese-dominated Houtu colony where her sentence was meant to be for life. As a prisoner, Jingyi became a test subject for numerous experiments and is used as a deterrent against rival colonies, seeing as she strong enough to combat the other factions' powerhouses like the Elevas' Shizuka Takeda ([personal profile] keihatsu), and Midgard's Sofia Sinclair ([personal profile] kratistos). Thinking her friend had abandoned her and the government she fought for seeing her as a mere tool, Jingyi's heart grew dark.

Jingyi eventually breaks free from her imprisonment upon hearing Ayame is active once again, leading her to fight against her former friend who she blames for her current situation. After a hard-fought battle between the two most powerful humans alive, Ayame once again defeats Jingyi, but reveals that her own powers are dwindling. Ayame is suffering the effects of the Archon augmentations inevitable power decline - a fate Jingyi will have to face sooner or later. The two friends reconciled their past, and set out to journey at the edges of the cosmos, with Jingyi helping an ailing Ayame while they still have their powers.

NOTES:

  • Fireteam Emblem was her former team, consisted of four soldiers with a later addition, totaling to five at their peak. The original four were given codenames after the Four Symbols of Chinese astrology, with Jingyi being the Azure Dragon. Jingyi feels regret in having to kill them when she was briefly driven mad, but also takes solace that they died honorably as warriors. She doesn't blame herself for it, but still feels the pain of regret in having done so. The topic of being possessed by a greater mind than her remains a sore topic, feeling it to be a traumatic experience that she promises never to allow herself to be in again, leading to her issues with control where she either surrenders too much of it like letting her government decide her life, or takes too much of it when deciding on her students' progress.

  • Her brother (named after the Black Tortoise) had fathered a child named Chunhua ([personal profile] callais) before his death. This leads to Jingyi's complicated feelings towards Chunhua, who reminds her too much of her father. Chunhua is taken from birth by the Houtu's High Council to serve as a superhuman military asset, but given Chunhua's age and inexperience, she was put under Jingyi's tutelage. Chunhua in turn watches over Jingyi's activity to ensure her aunt isn't trying to escape. Jingyi is emotionally distant towards Chunhua, and tutors the girl in martial arts to better control her Resonance abilities by building mental discipline. The training can even be considered cruel with how unforgiving it was. But Jingyi loves her niece in her own way, and is simply unable to express it outside of quietly rooting for Chunhua to succeed through the harsh training. Chunhua also loves Jingyi but doesn't see her aunt's side, and thinks Jingyi hates her. Chunhua blames her aunt for killing her father whenever her resentment reaches a certain point. They eventually mend their relationship, with Chunhua happily teaching her aunt some modern internet lingo.

  • Jingyi is akin to a child spoiled by their parents. She was used as an exemplar to the other Archon candidates to emulate, and was lavishly rewarded with material things and praise. This lead a lot of Archons to resent Jingyi, and for Jingyi herself to grow arrogant. She developed a habit of buying expensive things to reward herself and overcompensate for her lack of meaningful relationships. Showing off to her friend Ayame was also another reason, since they both got along in their shared interest in fashion. Jingyi doesn't realize how this alienation from others hurt her until much later in life. This, combined with being imprisoned, eventually got Jingyi to try a minimalist lifestyle. This doesn't always work as she's still easily seduced by material things and impulsively buys, no matter how much she denies it.

  • Jingyi's possession remains a sore subject to her, showing signs of mental and emotional trauma from the experience. The eldritch entity was attracted to her negative emotions, amplifying them while also robbing her of control. Her violent urges, buried resentment for her teachers and arrogance towards her fellow soldiers were maximized until Jingyi massacred them. She viewed her teachers like her parental figures, and her fellow soldiers like her siblings. So the revelation that she murdered them all and the fact the entity only used what darkness that was already in her has Jingyi feeling remorse and fear to this day. She just keeps it well hidden; thinking that how can she become the hero that she always wanted to be when she was more of a monster. She swears to never again let her mind be tampered with and ever feel that vulnerable.

  • Jingyi denies that imprisonment and erasure of her history and records had a negative effect on her mind, but it hurts her to think about it. Even if she didn't become the greatest and most renowned hero of humanity, she still had made an impact and had done many feats worth remembering. Even with her ego, there are people within the Archon Program who thought Jingyi is ultimately a good person who didn't deserve imprisonment. Her body was experimented on against her will while she was in the dream state and she was constantly dehumanized by guards whenever she was awake in between stasis. For some time, she was denied audience from anyone she knew, and was even declared dead to anyone who asked. When she was given a little freedom later on, Jingyi's remaining friends have moved on. She acts tough and say she doesn't need to reconnect with them, even if she had considered reaching out more than a few times, only to decide it's better they don't know.

  • Jingyi has a one-sided infatuation towards Ayame, her only friend growing up. She was always eager to show off to Ayame, but her arrogant attitude also made it difficult for their bond to grow. When reunited as adults, Ayame had found love with Sofia, causing Jingyi to feel jealous and feel replaced by someone she doesn't even see as worthy of Ayame. Jingyi's jealousy and feelings of hurt caused her to also resent Ayame for taking the glory that had always been promised to her as a child, although she can never truly hate Ayame and still wish they can be friends again. Jingyi felt like Ayame had abandoned her once she became a prisoner, writing letters to her friend everyday and getting no reply. Ayame also never visited her once. She learns that Ayame had her own issues to deal with at the time, they both reconciled their friendship.

  • Jingyi is dismissive of Shizuka Takeda, Ayame's clone, seeing the Elevas Captain as an inferior copy of her friend. Both women's arrogance have made it impossible for them to find common ground or get along, despite being far more similar to each other than they care to admit. She feels uncomfortable seeing the face of the woman she loves in Shizuka, and knowing Ayame's legacy is being tainted by the Elevas' dishonorable actions in the war. She feels threatened by Shizuka's potential to reach her level of power as well, having clashed with Shizuka and felt she could have lost a swordfight against the Captain. Despite Shizuka's self-unaware attempts in trying to build rapport at first, Jingyi brushed it off. Jingyi later realizes she is partly to blame for Shizuka's descent into villainy, which probably would not have happened had she just been kinder to the other woman.

  • Sofia has earned Jingyi's ire and is openly dismissive of her, not seeing Sofia as an equal simply because of her background lacking any military training. Worst of all, Ayame had chosen Sofia as her successor and partner, making Jingyi feel like she's been replaced and is jealous of the bond between Ayame and Sofia. She looks down on Sofia's anti-authority, and sees Sofia as a mere brawler than a warrior. Though a part of her is jealous that Sofia has freedom while she feels shackled in a purposeless mission, and is reduced to a mere prisoner. She cannot accept that Sofia has also grown to potentially reach her level despite all of her misgivings towards the woman, begrudgingly respecting Sofia's hand-to-hand combat prowess and heroic feats when they clashed.

    ABILITIES:

  • Superhuman Physiology: At her peak, she has attained a god-like level of power that her physical stats are immeasurable, dependent on the amount of Resonance energy she is channeling through her body at the moment. However, with her imprisonment and the restraints currently put on her by her superiors, she is significantly weaker than she was at her prime. Just strong enough to be on par with the other champions and not be a danger to everyone else. She can only be matched blow-for-blow by similarly powerful foes or by multiple opponents, and her world has access to material and weapons that can make her vulnerable to others of a lower power level. She is strong, but not invincible (and I'm always willing to tone it down and talk it out first. Role-wise she is comparable to the likes of Gojo Satoru from JJK or her namesake Sun Wukong from Journey to the West, for reference.)

  • Resonance Mastery: She has a plethora of abilities thanks to the reality-warping nature of Resonance powers; from telekinesis, telepathy, flight, barrier creation, energy projectiles of different forms, duplicate creation, temporary shape and size shifting, portal creation, pocket-dimension creation, hypnosis, astral projection, etc. Thanks to her restraints, she limits the use of it to her most practiced abilities, and that using Resonance for a desired effect that she hasn't done before or require a lot of mental concentration also requires more energy, plus a higher physical toll that can exhaust her regeneration.

  • Chinese Martial Arts Mastery: She has mastered multiple wushu styles, with her main preference being the combination of Bajiquan and Piguaquan, along with Xinyiquan and Baguazhang. Taijiquan and the more aggressive Shuai Jiao also show themselves in her combat techniques, to even a modern wushu like Sanshou. She is teaching her niece Wing Chun, which she hardly uses, but it shows that Jingyi is knowledgeable enough in the art to teach it. Combined with her Resonance and with her restraints off, she can make even the mythical Dim Mak work and touch pressure points for different effects, from healing to killing. Using telekinesis to add to her hand-to-hand combat skills have made her a frustrating opponent to fight according to the other champions, like Sofia, who rely more on brute force.

  • Assorted Weaponry: Jingyi is primarily a sword master, once wielding her custom made jian. But after her imprisonment, Jingyi starts to prefer the use of a staff, which she can alter into a spear made out of the supposedly unbreakable metal bars of her prison cell that she pried off. She can manipulate the staff with her Resonance to change size, turn into a three-section staff, a whip, or a long-handled flail. She uses her sword mostly as a companion weapon by having it float around her and attack on its own to cover her blind spots. She only wields her sword in hand when fighting seriously.

  • Extensive Training & Experience: Trained from childhood in warfare and advanced academics, Jingyi was already in active duty in battlefields all over Terran space at the age of 12. Being imprisoned has stunted her skill's continued improvement however. Archon training involved astral projection to a different dimension fighting monsters and lost souls of legendary warriors, further enhancing her already impressive skillset. Time flew differently in this world, allowing her to become exponentially stronger over a long time of consecutive battles while only a short time lasted in the physical world. Out of the champions of major Terran factions, Jingyi is the most experienced, but she can still be thrown off by unorthodox fighting tactics.

  • Weaknesses: After her imprisonment, Jingyi is implanted a small disk-like device inside her skull, which causes her pain when she uses her powers indiscriminately. This device can be triggered via a remote control used by her government masters. Being more akin to a typical "mage" build in a RPG game, Jingyi focuses more on using spells than physical combat. So while she is still a skilled fighter, it's one of her lesser skills. Resonance Disruption Pulses generated from various anti-magic devices can temporarily cause her powers to malfunction or fail. Severing Threads are sentient magical fabric with inscriptions, which can constrict around her and interrupt Jingyi's connection to ambient energies where she draws power from/commands. Magical attacks can help bypass her invulnerability, although she still has regenerative healing and general toughness to overcome. Both the Pulse and Threads are accessible and usable by even non-powered humans and can be effective counters to help make her vulnerable. Ultimately, Jingyi's weakness is the same as Ayame's - their powers start to decline in duration. Archons were not expected to live long, and their gradual power loss is an unintended side-effect of their augmentations that works out for the benefit of their masters who wouldn't want them to use those powers to turn on the government. Jingyi suffers this gradual power loss at a later time than Ayame, as her imprisonment and lack of using her Resonance helped slow down the inevitable. Jingyi eventually loses all of her powers, prompting her to re-learn them again.

ACTIVE TIMES/PACE: PST, eternally slow replier.
    BRACKETS/PROSE: Will match!
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: Sexual assault, lolicon/shotacon, excessive gore.

    IN CHARACTER

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: She won't be so reciprocal with this. A hand on her is fine, or a hug, depending on the situation and how close she is with the other person. But usually no.
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: She can handle herself. Keep in mind that she's supposed to be very powerful (think Gojo from JJK), so it's best not to get on her bad side unless your character is looking for trouble. But I'm also always willing to tone it down to a reasonable level, especially since I want to play her in situations her powers matter so little anyway.
RELATIONSHIPS: She's married to her duty as a soldier, so while romantic relationships are not impossible it's definitely very very hard to get. She's more of a friends-with-benefits kind of gal.
PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: She has significantly improved her defenses against any psychic or mental intrusion after being possessed, so expect her to retaliate violently at any attempt.
MAGICAL INFORMATION: Her universe's power system is called Resonance, and it's more similar to The Force but on crack, than a more traditional magic system with more rules (although Resonance can be learned that way and is considered the safer option). Resonance and magic is one in the same where she is from, and operates more like reality warping with how limitless the applications of Resonance has.
MEDICAL INFORMATION: Augmented human, often compared to a living god than a person. She can heal from even fatal wounds instantly, making her hard to kill. But this regenerative ability can get exhausted from too much use.
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: She's really salty about Ayame who she's jealous for in a "It should've been me! Not her! It's not fair!" kind of way because Ayame got the glory for something Jingyi believes should have belonged to her. But she also has feelings for Ayame because they're childhood friends, and feels jealous of whoever Ayame is dating/has feelings for, so it's awkward all around. This subject is just guaranteed to make her uncomfortable. Bringing up Sofia or Shizuka can elicit an annoyed reaction out of her, especially when they're praised. Slander or creepy comments towards her niece Chunhua is guaranteed to piss her off. Also don't call her Blue Eyes White Dragon unless you wanna end up in the Shadow Realm.

    OUT OF CHARACTER

BACKTAGGING: My bread and butter. I will tag as long as interest lasts. I tend to go by mood, so I will answer the tags easiest for me to reply to at the time. Please don't take it personally if I skip your tag, it's not because I think your tag is bad, my ADHD brain is hard to get to focus on things. I am always open to telling others if we don't mesh.
    THREADHOPPING: Within reason
    FOURTHWALLING: I'd rather not
    CROSS-MEDIUM: I'm open to it!

    CRAU: N/A.
    OTHER: N/A.

SUITABILITY: Being a prisoner with no time to indulge in hobbies, Jingyi would find the hotel and it's lavishness to be a welcome change to her depressing life in her cell. This will make Jingyi more open the quirkiness of the hotel and it's way of pushing people to having sex, making her more willing to participate in the hedonism after being locked up.

    HISTORY:
  • A former child soldier created to be part of the first Archon Program of magically-enhanced supersoldiers that use a power called "Resonance". Jingyi was the most gifted out of all the candidates, leading to her becoming convinced of her greatness and destiny to become humanity's hero.
  • She was only rivaled by another girl named Ayame Sasaki, who became her only friend and formed a close bond with where they used to sneak out of the base, indulging in things normal children got to enjoy.
  • As years go by, Jingyi was sent to many campaigns fighting monsters and aliens, never once being defeated. Her arrogance grew to the point of her taking on the burden of facing a cosmic entity that was too powerful for anybody else.
  • Jingyi lost and was mind-controlled by the entity, who used her own arrogance to blind her into a mad fury, tricking Jingyi into killing the Invictor group of superheroes and her fellow Archons who only wanted to snap her out of her daze. It was Ayame who ultimately defeated Jingyi.
  • But instead of vouching for her friend and protecting her, Ayame turned Jingyi in to the authorities so her friend can get the help she needs. Only the authorities that they answered to thought of imprisonment as the proper response as Jingyi was too powerful and dangerous and must be contained.
  • Hurt by this betrayal and how her life got turned upside down for something that wasn't even really her fault, Jingyi took solace in the fact Ayame is still alive. She wrote letters to her friend every day, only to get nothing in reply. She watched the news hail Ayame as the new hero of humanity, and Jingyi can only watch with envy in seeing someone else live the life she thought was meant for her.
  • With Ayame seemingly abandoning her and being too busy basking in the glory Jingyi herself craved, her squadmates that she viewed as family all killed by her own hands, suffering a humiliating defeat, robbed of the prime years of her life, and now being experimented on as a prisoner - resentment grew in Jingyi as she rotted in prison with nobody else to comfort her.
  • Being implanted with a power limiter, Jingyi waited for the right time to break free out of her prison with the goal of pursuing Ayame who betrayed her.

  • ABILITIES:
  • Superhuman Physiology: Jingyi is augmented to become physically stronger than possible for humans, so despite her imprisonment and being rusty after years of not training/immobilization, Jingyi retains her inhuman strength, speed, agility, reflexes, and even intelligence in that she learns quick and has good problem solving skills. She can also heal from injuries instantly. The upper limit of her physicality used to be immeasurable, but her limiters put her on a much lower end of the scale, but is still considerable.

  • Resonance User: Resonance is the ability to sync with metaphysical and ubiquitous energy fields and concepts in order to manipulate it to one's whims. It is basically reality warping, likened to cosmic powers and magic alike, limited only by the user's imagination and physical limits in channeling these various energies. While the applications are limitless, users stick to their most practiced techniques and skills as the effect on the physical body is heavy when they diverge from their own skillset or overexert their abilities. Jingyi is no longer in her prime after her imprisonment, and the limiter implant in her head also restricts her from using her more outlandish abilities like altering reality (unless it is for emergencies like self-preservation). Her most used skills are: telekinesis, telepathy, weapon materialization (just a staff that she can transform into a spear or a three-section staff; she can't make any other weapons besides those), barrier and portal creation, flight, short-range teleportation, duplicate creation, temporary shape-shifting, hypnosis, and energy projectiles that mimic firearms and heavy weaponry.

  • Extensive Combat Experience: Jingyi had been training since she was a very young child, and went to war at the age of 12 and hasn't stopped since until she was imprisoned. She is trained to fight monsters and supernatural threats that no regular human can, giving her a long repertoire of enemies she had defeated. Trained in traditional Chinese martial arts with a more modern take and application, Jingyi makes good use of systems such as Bajiquan, Piguaquan, Xinyiquan, and Baguazhang as her main styles, along with Shuai Jao and Taijiquan as her preferred grappling styles. She shows knowledge in modern Sanda and extensive enough knowledge in Wing Chun to be able to teach it. She used to be a very capable swordsman with her custom made jian sword, but her main skill lies in her spearmanship which she can translate to her use of a quarterstaff or a three-section-staff.

  • VICES:
  • Arrogant - Jingyi is akin to a child who was spoiled by her parents. As much as one can be spoiled while under a supersoldier program, anyway. Her talent made her the favorite student by her mentors. Given preferential treatment to shame others for not living up to the standard set by Jingyi, her masters reward her with praise, gifts, and more freedom compared to the other candidates. This made a lot of other candidates resent her, but Jingyi is told that they are just envious of what she has. This arrogance got into Jingyi's head well into adulthood, making her think her decisions hold more weight than her fellow Archons and that she is the strongest of all of them, thus she was the only one worthy enough to face the cosmic entity that handed Jingyi her first defeat. But even with that loss and her imprisonment, Jingyi remains certain that she's still destined to be humanity's hero. However this belief is partially her way of coping from the harsh life she endured.

  • Resentful - When her ego is bruised, it is easy for Jingyi to hold grudges and point fingers, diverting blame from herself. Imprisoned harshly for something that was partially out of her control, erased from history, and feeling abandoned by the only friend she had, Jingyi learned to stew in this anger by watching Ayame from the news in her cell, living the life she wants for herself. She learns to use this feeling as fuel to give herself a reason to keep moving forward while under harsh treatment within the prison. Outside of Ayame, this resentment can result in envy and jealousy, making her possessive of people and jealous of what others have.

  • VIRTUES:
  • Protective - While a flawed person, Jingyi is still a hero at her core. Her desire to protect humanity and the world from the overwhelming alien threat that plagued it is genuine, and her love and affections for her friends are honest. She fights for those who can't fight for themselves, to the point she was willing to throw away her life to fight the cosmic entity that handed Jingyi her first taste of defeat. Her decision to fight this entity wasn't purely out of a need to show off, but it was to spare those she loved from certain death. This protectiveness extends to how she is on a daily basis; from instinctively shielding others from harm, or calling out others to prevent them from making bad decisions.

  • Helpful - Jingyi's way of expressing her affection comes through the way she is willing to help others. She views helping others become their best selves is a way to save the world and a duty of a hero. Jingyi is an eager but tough teacher, especially, willing to share her knowledge in martial arts and is a natural at teaching. However, she struggles in the way she expresses herself, often coming across as rude, temperamental, and impossible to please. But her methods yield results according to those who suffered her cruel tutelage, seeing it as Jingyi just having high standards that she demands on her students, but her intentions are always to make them stronger both physically and mentally.

  • SUIT REQUESTS:
  • Hearts: Jingyi is a very guarded person thanks to her upbringing, convinced since she was young that soldiers have to keep their emotions in check and to never show "weakness" or "softness" such as affection. For an Archon, Jingyi is better socialized thanks to her masters allowing her more freedom than the other candidates, allowing Jingyi to meet more people and gain more emotional intelligence. Her arrogance however, ultimately stops her from being open to her vulnerabilities, making her deny the fact that she is sad, angry, and lonely deep within thanks to her cruel imprisonment. The Hearts suit will give her that push to be more open to show more affection and her vulnerabilities, learn humility, and actively seek out emotional connection even if it's through hedonistic, casual sex.

  • Clubs: Much like the reasoning for the Hearts suit, the Clubs suit would make Jingyi more open than her usual guarded nature. While Jingyi is open to indulging in vices, she will start hesitating if it is beginning to make her feel attached to another person. With her loneliness, becoming attached to someone is inevitable even if she's trying not to be, and this will make her want to avoid this person she's growing fond of until the feeling goes away. But with the Clubs suit, Jingyi will have to challenge that thought and be more susceptible to her own decisions, with her desires winning over her reason and control thanks to that little push from the Clubs suit.

  • RANK REQUESTS: A high rank would be good. She'll get enough lessons in humility from her suit and character development in the game, but a high rank would soften the blow for her and prevent her from causing trouble.
